Starvation - One more time
#1
A couple of us fished Starvation yesterday in Rabbit Gulch. We launched our tubes about 10:00 and fished until 3:00. There is a little ice in the back of the bays but the lake is mostly open water. There was some shoreline ice when we launched but it was gone when we came back in.

We used fast sinking lines with size 6-8 bead head woolly buggers and soft hackles. We managed to pick up eight fish, all rainbows, with only a few other hits. Most of the fish came from 15' - 25' of water while dragging our flies near the bottom. Most of the fish were caught in the afternoon so there is no need to go early. Water temperature was 37-38 degrees and the visibility was about 8'. The reservoir level is at 83% full and rising. The level has come up a foot since we fished there on December 3rd.
It wasn't fast fishing but we are running out of options to float tube so we were satisfied.[Wink]

Thanks for the heads up. Now if it would stay nice and calm, and really cold, so we can get some Ice on that puppy we will be set.

Man those starvation rainbows are fatties! Well done!

Were there lots of geese and ducks? If I could do a cast and blast, i might be tempted to run up there...

Thanks.

There were a lot of geese but most of the ducks were coots in Rabbit Gulch. We scared up a lot of geese that were in next to shore where we launched in the morning.
