green river/ flaming gorge report
#1
Spent the day with my son and future daughter-in-law yesterday. Left salt lake @ 5 am . Started out on the C-section in browns park. The young lovers wanted to rabbit hunt (anngilees first) So I droped them off and I went fishing. I should have went rabbit hunting. The browns weren't interested today , But they slaughtered the cottontails, (dinner today) Travis's girl out shot him 2 to 1. But he needed to be humbled.
About 2 p.m. We headed to the gorge to try out some of our recently acquired tube dude jigs. We accessed the ice at ff11 just down from the confluence. Got set up about 5 p.m. and started catching pups from 1-5 lbs right from the first drop. Then it died at about 7:30, Never caught any of our target (burbot) But it was still fun. Of coarse the old man schooled the young ones on the fishing.
Headed for home @ 10 p.m. to end a long day pulling into a foggy SL valley about 2 a.m.

When is the best time of year to float A or B sections?

April is good, BWO's all day, weather is usually ok and the crowds haven't shown up yet, I don't fish that section a lot so maybe someone else will chime in.

Late march early april. The larder browns get aggressive then. On the b section It is great then , but you need to hit it just before run off gets going , or red creek can make a mess of the lower half of the B and the C sections. My experience is that is one of the best times of the year for larger brown trout. For spin fishing rapalas and jakes lures are good , for fly fishing at that time , I lake to use minnow imitations like zonkers , or my personal favorite is a muddler which imitates a sculfin, a favorite of the browns

Tons of rabbits
Just cross the bridge at indian crossing/jarvi hystorical ranch and drive on up the hill. continue through taylor flat cabin area and toward the mountain ( you will se the diamond mountain wildlife management sign where the road turns left.
hunt the left side along this road . particularly where there is rock/sagebrush/and cedar trees mixed
There is a lot of cayotes there also. You will hear them every night. If you like to call and hunt them
