Well, if you like fishing in a high-density city, today is the day for you.
We got there late because of the weather, and we were lucky to find a parking spot (out in the boonies). The snow on top of the ice made it a workout, and as slow as the bite was, it really wasn't worth it. Hit our money-spot, but only managed a couple nice Gills in our short time there, so at least we didn't get skunked.
Tread carefully if you decided to brave the masses....I've never seen that many people on that pond. No wonder it was so slow.
I'm sure Barney was just giddy writing tickets for all the illegally parked vehicles. I'm sure in the not so distant future they will charge a fee for parking/fishing because of the heavy popularity.

That's a bummer, I guess I am glad I got caught up in all the snow plowing fun.

LOL, I have never had any problem (including today at Mantua) getting away from the crowds while ice fishing.

Me, neither, but it's all easy if there is only one goal. I assume you were away from crowds, but still on fish, and we all ain't that good. I coul avoid the crowds easy enough and go fish in the shade of the willows right next to the parked cars in 2 feet of water..............but would I catch anything?
I understand that knowing what to do and still catch fish in such circumstance is what separates a good from a mediocre fisherman, but i've been on Mantua where every ten square yards of water over 6 feet deep had somebody over it. And, I for one, rarely find warm water fish like I go to Mantua for, much shallower than that in winter.
So, if you have anything to teach us,..........I'm all ears.
Whelp, Edit: I just read a different post of yours, so I guess I will try shallower; something I quit after only a few unproductive tries.

Yesterday, we hiked 3/10 of a mile to fish one of my few GPS marks on Mantua (made while fishing from my boat with my grandkids several years ago) out in the middle of the lake. We fished there for a couple hours. During all that time there wasn't another angler any closer than 2/10 of a mile from us. The only problem was we were catching few fish and they were all small dink perch.
BTW - Mantua is one of my least favorite places to ice fish. I have never done really well there and for the most part the fish that I have caught have been on the small side.

Thanks for keeping the big crowd over to Mantua... Hyrum wasn't too bad, although all the parking spots were filled at swim beach... and the fishing was sort of slow for me.. Snow's getting deep, I'm concerned for after this next storm, it's going to get tough to get out on the pond with all the junk I take with me... Time to go back to the bucket and light gear... Later J
