Our biologists visited Fish Lake today and are concerned about ice conditions. Recent warm weather has weakened the ice in many spots and created a lot of slush. In some places, there's still open water. If conditions don't improve quickly, we may have to cancel the Jan. 21 Fish Lake Perch Tournament.
Fortunately, we are expecting colder weather in the upcoming week, and our biologists are monitoring ice conditions closely. We will make a decision by Jan. 18 about whether to hold the tournament. Once we've made a decision, we'll follow up here and send an email to registered participants. Stay tuned!

They'll probably still make the prizes available, and almost certainly make the tagged-fish prizes available all year like they did last year when we somehow couldn't seem to catch a tagged fish at all.

Jedidiah is correct. The tagged fish contest will happen even if the Jan. 21 tourney is canceled. As long as you're a registered participant, you can claim a prize if you catch a tagged fish. That opportunity will continue throughout the year, until all of the prizes have been distributed.

Thank you for the update. Our team decided to head down and do whatever fishing we can. We already have a cabin paid for and we'll be taking our ice fishing gear just in case....if not, we'll be fishing from the bank and having a great time!

You'll be able to fish the ice. Just be cautious where you go. The southern end of the lake is fishable right now. the northern half has some real areas of concern.
I would HIGHLY recommend that people NOT take ATVs on the ice right now...
Hopefully the weekend weather brought some cold and closed up the remaining open water.
