Will be in Sandiego on wednesday for my boys Marine graduation. I am going to fish a 1/2 day boat, they said 20lb line will be heavy enough, they are catching rockfish, sheep headsw etc. What hooks? size sinkers? jig heads? should I take some soft plastics or jigging spoons? I have all the gear but it always seems to be just a little off when I get fishing on these half day trips and I don't want to lug all my tackle . been 2 years since I've been to CA.

Don't know if this response is too late. Its been forever since I logged into BFT.
If you're fishing the bottom you'll probably want some heavy torpedo sinkers (2-4 oz. or more). I would call the landing to see what tackle they recommend. I'm sure they'll even sell you a tackle pack before you head out.
Good Luck!
