Fishing Partner Friday!
#1
Well went fishing with my best bud Neil on May 2 - Friday... i.e. the title, took him too the best smallmouth spot I could get too with the low water in the snake, was trying too get him his personal best, but for some reason they were biting light on his little jig..... I was using a rip n rap a small spinner bait and a large spinner bait and even caught a couple on Neil's sinking rapala..... had a great time with a good friend,
Matt

start out with a small one 17 1/2"

I believe this was the big one at 18 1/2"

Followed by 2 18"er's

Than I got a cool sequence with Neil catching a nice one than a pic of it jumping and the hook pulling, you can see the fish in the air and his jig half way between the fish and his pole.....

Way to go guys. Gotta love them Snake River smallies. I managed to sneak down to the Snake last Tuesday for a few minutes. Mainly just out to let the dogs run but after a bit I had to cast a few. All I had to fish with was my 5' Ugly Stik rigged with a black and yellow Panther Martin. Landed 7 SM in 12 casts all between 2 and 4 lbs. Keep a couple and we had a great meal of fish tacos that night. Wife is coming home tomorrow so I'm hoping I can start fishing again.

The river is fishing good but is lowest I've seen in the 14 years I've lived here,

As always, it was great fishing with you. Can't wait to get out there again. I definitely had my personal best hooked a few times, but they just didn't want to stay hooked up. I think the problem is my rod is too limber to get a good solid hook set. Can you email me the full size pictures, please?

Yep, gotta have a stiff rod to be successful! ;-)
