storing the showdown

Hello, was just wanting to know any suggestions on storing your showdown for the off season, beings I wont be on the ice for a few months! Do you turn it on and just let it die down, or do you unplug the battery from the unit, and store it away. Thanks for any info.

Charge battery to 100% and unplug from unit.

I remove the sealed 12v battery and store the rest of the unit. I put the battery on a trickle or float charger once a month for a few hours. It also serves as a backup battery for the fishfinder on my kayak.

Since my Showdown doesn't have the upgrade to the 12v battery, all I need to do is pull the double A batteries out[].

Like Rocky, I charge the battery fully and then unplug it from the unit. Once in awhile recharge it thru the summer. This was the third season on the battery.
