you wouldnt think it would be so dificult to figure it out (after all we pay them to know this stuff) but the fish and game doesnt realy seem to be catching on to the fact that we get a substantial increase in fish every time the water temp at Bonneville gets around 11c and there is a decrease in flows. summer counts begin june first and i am betting that with the next "low" "warm" water we get another influx of fish that are still spring run fish. i know that iff they wait much longer the summer run will start catching up to them and they will get intermingled. i think that protecting those summer fish from incidental catch in open fisheries on the way up is the real reason for them wanting things to be closed down durring that time, and not so much the low numbers of springers. i would guess they may eventualy re open the rapid river run wich has no incidental catch of summer fish because they are non existent there. but maybe that is just wishfull thinking?
