I don’t think it is coincidence that the majority of people complaining about a few dead fish, are the same people who can’t spell and form a proper sentence. (Notice I said majority not all of them).
They are missing the big picture here. Anytime you net and capture a large number of fish, a certain percentage will die from stress or mishandling. The loss of a few fish in order to produce millions of fish should not bother anyone but somehow it does. The biologists do their best to minimize casualties.
You see this time and time again. So many uneducated anglers cry foul when biologists net fish in order to try to model fish populations. They can’t see the big picture. They see a few dead fish in the nets and they lose it. Population studies are a critical part of the decision making process in fishery biology.
It has been said before but whining and arguing about topics like this, on this forum, really is a waste of time. If you have an opinion one way or another there are better avenues to promote change or voice concerns.
