I remember thinking the same thing when I started catching Perch. As you get more practice you get better at getting more meat off. They are more work for less meat than a trout for example but I think they're worth it because they taste so much better. I love catching trout but I rarely keep and eat them, maybe one a trip because my son likes them but I'll take perch over trout any day. Even my wife who hates fish will eat them. I've never tried the eggs but it would be good to have a use for them.
