West of the dam is the closest to the lake and river. Plenty of good primitive camping spots just out of town.
All the camping spots I've seen down river had fire pits and flattened spots for tents. They were next to the river in some nice places. I'm glad Lee's Ferry doesn't charge to camp up river.
I'd call and make reservations before or even just for info. That weekend might be already filled at all the campgrounds.
