I've always done really well up there trolling both flatfish and rapalas. Have done it from a boat as well as a canoe, and they work great! Last year the rusty colored one produced well (countdown), but I've also done well on the silver countdown and several other colors.
We've caught them trolling inline spinners like blue foxes, rooster tails, mepps, etc. too. Take along some clear bubbles too. Fill them with water clear full and put about 5 - 6 feet of leader below it. Then tie on a black wooly bugger, that can produce well too.
