Fished the narrows this morning with a few friends. Ice was 5-7 inches thick. Temps were nippy until about noon, The wind wasn't strong but just enough to put the chill on. We fished in 55 feet of water. The fish were suspended at all levels. We would watch the finders and follow the schools. I was lowering and raising my line all morning and we manged to catch 30 perch between us. I also caught 3 small crappie which were suspended at about 25 ft. The perch wer anywhere from 4-7 inches and definately smaller than (on the anerage) than what we've seen in years past, but we all knew that. Didn't see a single other fisherperson all morning, just the three of us.
