When I catch whitefish on the South Fork they are consitantly bigger than the ones I pull from the Weber. I have caught whites on the South Fork up to 23 inches and pushing 4 pounds. My brother and I saw some stacked up in a hole easily over 24". These things where monsters. I catch them in both the Ogden and Weber using size 16 prince weighted. I do best weighted so it gets down to them. It is there spawn right now so look for rainbows, cutthroat and even small browns behind the spawing pods. Unlike trout, whites do not make redds, they just release into the water. From one hole on the Weber I can easily pull out 12-14 whites (usually over 16 inches) in an hour. These fish are underated, believe it or not, they are a member of the trout family and really the only native species left in most streams. They are a good indicator of stream health. As the whites dissappear look for other species to follow.
