Quote:Good question. Section IV, part C, paragraph 4 states a person may not take more than one bag limit in any one day. Take is defined in the proc as hunt, pursue, catch, capture, possess, angle, seine, trap or kill. It seems to me that if you have 4 trout/salmon on the ice, and pull one more out, you are in violation of the law.
Well if you are going to say that you cannot take more than the bag limit, and take is defined as hunt, pursue, catch, capture, possess, angle, seine, trap or kill, then you can only reel in your bag limit. You cannot catch more than your bag limit. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU CATCH AND RELEASE. If you caught it, you must count it as part of your take. One limit a day. 4 trout and call it quits. If you only keep one, but you caught more than your limit, you still violated Section IV, part C, paragraph (4).
Clear as mud yet?
But you can still release fish that do not meet the size, species, or bag limits on a specific water.
