I wear my army surplus white "mickey mouse" rubber boots. They keep you dry and warm. In the slush, I know I'm not hiking a ton, so that's not an issue and they have never let me down in 12+ years. Still wearing the same pair. They are 10"+ and are great IMO. I have Sorrells and Gore-tex snow boots, both are left home when the slush hits.
