Garbageman, (Clint)
I have been using Cajun Red for around three years. I have it on all of my spinning reels, including my ice reels. Tubedude recently saw me catch fish with it. Jedburton has seen me catch trout and catfish with it. I also slayed the walleye, whities and crappie at UL last year with it. Jed saw me catch dozens of stripers, and smallies with it. Petty can attest that I caught wipers with it. I have never had a fish catching issue with it. I find that it is extra strong, holds great knots and is abrasion resistant. I tried McCoy, P-Line, Firewire and another line that I forget, and had problems with them looping off my reel when ice fishing. The new Cajun Red ice line doesn't do it. Although I did have a huge Brown break my 4# CR (Cajun Red) at Lake X last week (after I tightened my drag) the second huge brown at the hole broke my hook, not my line. Jed witnessed that too. I hear that the Silver thread is awesome line, but I will stick with CR at $5.95 for a 1# spool. CR has also come out with a line for casting reels. I will be spooling up with that in a couple weeks...We all have our line preferences, and have confidence in what has been successful for us in the past. Perhaps those of us that have had negative fish catching experiences with CR, switched back to their "go to" lines too quick. And perhaps when I have had the occasional slow periods when fishing, it was because the CR was visible to the fish at that particular time of day. Who knows. What I do know is that it works for me the majority of the time. I have finally, after thirty years of fishing, have no reason to try any other line.
