If you have any questions about anything in specific, feel free to ask here on this board. Lots of us have already done the R&D and made the manufacuting mistakes (several times) and we might be able to assist you is tricking out your ride.
To answer your question about whether the stuff is available in stores - some is, some is not. What is, cost a lot more. The main thing is - half the fun is making it yourself and knowing you got what you wanted and the other half is you had fun catching fish with your own creation. It may not help you at this point, but, most of my stuff gets created during the off season or off times when I can't get out to fish - it's like extending the fishing season.
