[#0000ff]I have been to the top of Mount Whitney several times and have hiked the full length of the Muir Trail in the Sierras of California. I know about sheer granite walls and lots of snow. But, ya know what? I think Timp is purtier than Mt. Whitney.[/#0000ff] [/reply]
Whitney is kinda boreing compaired to the other parts of the JMT. I still think King's Canyon is the most beautiful place on earth. I grew up fishing the King's River, mostly at Ceadar Grove and near the Roads End. Even as a 15 year old I was humbled sitting in the bottom of that canyon, fishing, being surrounded by mile high rock, towering trees, bears, mountain lions, and a thundering river.
As to the trail itself(JMT), many people don't realize its part of the Pacific Crest Trail, although being as you seem to be a "facts" man I bet you knew that
I'll be 30 in two months, and I'm dissapointed that when I lived in California and was younger that I never made the attempt. Now I don't have the legs, the time, or the money to give it a go.
