Hey fishhound, you don't need photo software to transfer the pictures from your camera (at least if you have Windows XP or 2000).
If your camera uses a USB cable, just plug it in like you always do, and then open Windows Explorer (or My Computer).
The camera should show up as a drive (the next available drive letter). For example, if Windows is installed on C:\ and your CD drive is D:\, then it would show up as E:\.
You can then browse it just as if it were your hard drive, copy the pictures and paste them to your computer's hard drive(C:\).
