im not sure about wheeler access from the dam. when i have fished that area in the past i have just walked accross the dam and then down it. i imagine a good wheeler could make its own road over there somewhere, but im not sure whats legal and whats not in that area.(especially considering the fact that most machines are going anywhere they want up there... probably a winter thing) if not, then perhaps you can get your wheeler around the lake on the main road... where i take my snowmobile. there are plenty of wheeler tracks on that road right now.
on the lake today there was only a skiff of snow. the slush has frozen into about 2 inches of ice, and then an inch or two of slush, and then the regular 7 inches or so of solid clear ice. today stayed cold enough that not a lot of slush came back.
fishing was slightly slower today than in was on the first, but we still caught tons! todays biggest fish were only 16 inches, but they were fat and well fed. we also, of course, caught tons of smaller skinny cutts.
best jig colors were white early and chartreuse in the afternoon. tipping with mealies and chub chunks both worked well. fish were caught in 20-25 feet of water and throughout the column.
great place to introduce new fisherman to the sport! it will be interesting to see what this supposed storm is going to do to the road. (usually takes a few days after a storm to get it plowed to the dam)
