I probably ended up with no more than 10 whites. I caught almost all of them while we were by each other. You are right though, down sizing my jig head made all the difference. I didn't catch anything previously. Although, I can see why TubeDude pours his own with larger hooks. When I down sized to a 1/16 ounce head, the hook was really small. When I caught the fish by you I was tipping the jig with crawlers, later I ran into TubeDude and he gave me some perch meat (Thanks Pat). The bite picked-up again for awhile after that, but I wasn't able to set the hook on any of them. I thought about it later and wonder if it had to do with the size of the hook. The perch meat was a lot firmer and thicker than the crawlers and took up more of the gap on the hook. I'm not sure the hook was as effective after that.
Does anyone know if you can buy smaller heads with larger hooks on the internet somewhere? Or am I going to have to use the new Cabelas card and have some jig pouring equipment shipped to my post office box? [
