Sorry about the skunk. I got skunked last time I went out too so I can sympathize. As far as your boat. It depends on your setup and which engine. Connections could be it, could be a dead spot on your starter, could be a solenoid.
If I were a betting man, I'd bet it was a dead spot on your starter, specially since you said you've already checked the connections. Most starters have the solenoid built right inside them, older ford engines dont, but most will, so even if it's the solenoid, a lot of times it's best to just replace the whole thing anyways, it's not too much more to go that route. If you give me specifics on your boat/engine I can be less general with my comments.
