it just might be the way the oldman raised Trout_Slayer and i but, if we came across someones lost gear we would post signs at the closest bait shop or ranger station with our number. i guess things have changed over the years. i really hope some poeple have the same ideals in-grained in them now adays. good luck i hope you get your stuff back!
