As for the crappie situation, I had a buddy go out about a week ago and saw the same thing. I personally think the lake has turned over and the crappie are experiencing a kill. I caught a bunch of small crappie a couple weeks ago and they were only around 20ft deep and they would die and not swim back down. There is such an abundace of small crappie because of the phenominal spawn last year. This death or kill is probably a good thing to weed out the smaller ones and allow others to grow. Just my opinion if it is worth 2 cents.
