sorry this took a while to post. I was finally able to get out but because of rushed schedule I went with the easiest and scheduled an evening 4 hour trip with fishing headquarters. It ended up being a good thing I did because all other boats did not go out due to bad weather. unfortunately they count the trip out as part of the 4 hours and since there were only 6 of us we took a really slow boat out there so 4 hours turned into 2 hours of fishing 2 hours of travel. the fising was fair and I did manage a few small legal yellowtail, and a nice mangrove snapper. the night before I ended up fishing the pier and caught a ton of fish but most were baitfish. it was still a lot of fun anyway.
here are the counts. from the pier
10 threadfin shad (big ones around 9-10 inches)
2 blue runner
1 bluefish
3 grunts
1 morey eel
1 mangrove snapper
3 really big fish that cut through my 50lb mono leader
for the boat
1 bluefish that cut me off at the boat
1 mangrove snapper
4 legal yellowtail
All in all a fun trip and I hope I get into dental school there because it will be a lot of fun.
p.s. don't get your hands anywhere near the mouths of most of these fish they have some nasty teeth and like to bite.
