[cool][#0000ff]I'm witchoo, guy. Engineering logic aside, where is the personal enjoyment in swinging a short piece of non-responsive metal around? Much more angler friendly to wave a living wand and feel the flex and play of the rod, both when casting and fighting a fish. That is 90 percent of fishing to me. The other 10 percent includes the esthetics of the surroundings, the planning and anticipation, etc.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I spent most of my working career in advertising and business development. I will be the first to salute Mr. P. and his marketing genius. I doubt that he ever aspired to selling all of the serious anglers in the country. I suspect that he knew there were a lot more tanglers than anglers and that something like he came up with would appeal to many of them. Even more importantly, he timed his big pushes to coincide with Christmas and Fathers Day. I am sure that many more of his "wonder rods" were purchased for someone else than were ever bought for use by knowledgeable fishermen. I know I have seen more than a few of those things still in the box when visiting fellow anglers in their homes.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]No matter how many ways you try to come up with to make the Dimrods look good, they are still nothing more than an expensive novelty. If I truly felt that I could catch more fish with them and enjoy fishing more by using one, I might give one a try.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]What I forgot, until after this thread was going strong, is that I DID get a chance to hold one in my hot little hands. I had a BFTer attend one of the jig parties we put on over here and he asked me what I thought of it. At first I thought it was an ice rod holder. Might be good for that.[/#0000ff]
