As, has been stated, wayneswords.com is the definitive source on lake powell. I watch it daily for Hite reports and it looks like the fishing is sizzling right now.
Camping is available right on the beach at Hite or you can camp on the lake, but certain restrictions apply, primarily about having a port-a-potty with you. Wayneswords has a link to camping info
Since the runoff is beginning, the water at Hite can get muddy. A better option might be to camp in farleys canyon which is down lake a few miles and accessible by road. Great fishing is close at hand
If you don't already have one, I recommend that you purchase a "Fish N Maps", from Cabelas, sportsmans, etc. The "north lake powell "is what you want. Cost is about $7.00. The map will show you all of the locations around Hite you will read about on wayneswords, plus it is a valuable asset on the big lake.
Good luck on your trip and please be careful. If the winds come up....get off the lake. Please let us know how you do.
