Amen PBH. I do have one question for this thread though; what about foul-hooked fish? Sometimes you accidentally hook a trout in the belly or the tail or something, what are their chances of survival? All in all I think that if you treat the fish with respect as was mentioned earlier you are promoting its survival. I don't believe a little blood is going to spell the end for any fish. Sure it may decrease the chance of survival slightly but it won't decide its fate. But rough handling will surely be the worst thing that you could do. BTW I'm taking all the barbs off of my hooks because they make getting the fish back in the water disastrously slow. Time is critical as is gentle care.
