I was up there this morning as well. Were you in a boat? I saw a massive muskie but no hook ups. I agree with the other post though, your drag may not be that tight but the drag should give before the jig hook straightens out. The brand of hooks that are red are super sharp and should be strong enough. Either way I'd loosen the drag quite a bit.
Congrats though, you're progressing much better than I have been with the Muskie. I hit one with a jig/grub by the tail.
