Ice fishing sled help?
#7
[quote windriver]Google UHMW Plastic. Many people are reinforcing their sleds with strips of this high density plastic because it is slick, and very tough.

Check on some of the ice fishing forms and people are talking about it all over the place.

This is what I am planning on using for the runners of my permanent ice house I am building.

Thats a great idea but somthing about the same but a lot cheaper is pvc truck bed liner. i use it a lot for things i even got a bright idea to make a sled out of it. got to the top of the hill said my prayers and took off. lets just say it was a bad idea way to slick and fast. it can be bought at most bearing houses in 8 foot wide and any length and around 8.00 per running foot. i cut some into strips for runners on my snowmobile trailer also. it can be heated and bent to a shape you desire and drilled. it has excellent cold weather property's and comes in most times black or gray. use a skill saw or table saw to cut
