I'm with you on this one. No spring bobbers for me, it ruins the precise jigging actions that I want to impart to the lure. Also, the hook set is somewhat impeded too. I also don't like short ice fishing rods. I prefer my 5ft ugly stick. Ice fishing rods have poor hook setting capacity to me. I'm pretty sure I can detect most faint sniffs. Been doing it forever. The line will always move a tiny tiny bit with the lightest take if you watch really closely.
