It didnt get the name Floyd Scam Park for no reason.
I thought it was called that because of who is was named after. Floyd Lamb was a Nevada Legislaturer who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar in an FBI scam in 1983. He spent nine months in prison for his trouble.
When I moved here 41 years ago, it was Tule Springs Park ran by the city of Las Vegas. There was no entry fee and it was alot different looks-wise.It had a zoo (you can see the old pens on the southside of the big lake). Many locals were upset when Tule Springs was changed to recognize a crooked politician like Lamb. In fact, the city of Las Vegas entertained the idea of changing the name back to Tule Springs but the state legislature put in a clause that when they handed over the park to the city the name had to stay the same.
SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..... we don't talk about floyd lamb like that or bad things could happen to us...kinda like the 1st rule of fight club
