Because EVERYTHING that goes in to the water can carry the eggs or larvae. Boats, boots, nets, minnow traps, fish, fish guts. etc........ So you can't take anything from Electric Lake that might spread the mussels.
well first of all if thats the case then why were they not worryed about taking the minnows the last 3 years???? i have been taking the minnows from there the last 3 years and useing them all over the state in a lot of diffrent waters none have mussels in them now?? .. it's more that pepole are so pearanoid and paniced over the mussels that they are making up ways for them to be transported and trying to think of more ways of being stupid over them!!! there is NO studdys or any other evedence anywhere that the mussels and or larvae can be transported to other waters from fish from infested waters!!! nothing i have read anywhere say's anything about fish contrubuting to transporting them.. if you got anying saying diffrent i would like to see it..
if what you are saying is that any and every thing that comes in contact with the water at E-lake can transport the mussels to other lakes? what about ducks, seagulls, and other birds in the area?? lot's of them there too..
but it's ok to take a limit of fish home with you.. why not minnows to put in the frezzer? as long as they are in the frezzer for 3 days or more then the larvae cant stand the cold for longer then that.. and by the standerd the DNR has layed out the minnows would be safe to fish with anywhere same as a boat in temp's under frezzing for 3 days..
