Any Gorge Reports?
#4
All launches are open with exception to Firehole.

Rainbow fishing has been fair in the lower lake. I picked some up this past weekend while casting jigs and also trolling with planer boards. Trolling with planers actually produced the bigger fish, up to 18-inches. The most successful set-up was the Rocky Mountain Tackle Serpent spoon in Tequila Sunrise, under a 1 oz. snapweight, trolling close to shore at about 1.8 mph. I also caught fish on jigs like 3-inch Yamamotos and Berkley Gulp in crayfish and minnow colors. Most of the hits came on the fall.

I covered a lot of water, but when I marked schools I would make multiple passes or casts to catch fish. I kept a limit for a meal and they were all "dark red" meat. Many of the schools were at the mouths of canyons and draws in the lower Canyon. Water temp is still only 38F and the rainbow fishing should continue to just get better with this week's weather forecast.

Hope it helps, Ryno
