I like dogs but don't have one due to a pretty crazy family schedule etc, but usually its not the dog thats the problem-its the owner.
Not saying you are one of these bass.. but I have seen a lot of times when people say "they're one of the family" that they have a tendency to be blind to when their dog is being a pain to others.
I camped at a southern campground once next to a group that decided to leave 2 yorkies in the tent for 2 hours while they went to the lake to play. The campground host went over and chewed them out when they got back because child number 2 and 3 did nothing but bark the entire time they were gone.
Then they had to gall to argue with the host and wanted to know who was complaining about their barking dogs so they could confront them. They would have had to confront the whole campground because there were so many complaints that came in.
There is nothing wrong with bringing fluffy to the wilderness with you, but be a responsible owner ( as Im sure you are) and don't let them bark or be a nuisance.
Most people go camping, fishing etc to get away from the city sounds, and find some peace and quiet in the country. Not to listen to dogs barking incessantly the whole time.
My my appeal to anyone reading this is- please... if you take your dog with you out to the lake, control it and be respectful to others and most people will get along fine. (same for human kids)
