Fished at county boat dock today. Started around 7, was soaked through and through by 8. Fishing was slow. Had a hunch and so moved and fished pretty shallow, landed 15 or so brookies in an hour anywhere from little 12 inchers to a couple of nice 4 pounders. The brookies were attacking the lure whereas the cutts and hybrids we caught were biting extremely soft, sometimes only a small dip on the jigger totters, but managed to hook a few. The switched turned off at 10:30 and we left by 11:30. There is open water all over the place. The ice where we were was only 3 to 4 inches and I didn't like how it felt most of the time we were there. I am really hoping for a cold snap! Sorry no pics, was way too wet to get out my camera. When we drove by Staleys, there were guys fishing not even 25 yards out from the open water. A guy better hope those large cojones he has can float! I thought that was just crazy. There was a ribbon of soft ice that ran all the way from the point at Staleys to over towards A-frame. There was lots of open water at pintail point, I think they call that Stump hole farther out, correct me if I'm wrong. You could probably still put a boat in at the wild rose with all the open water there as well as the hatchery. Weird, warm year for sure. I am going back up Friday, we'll see what it's like then. Will most likely fish at the state dock if I can get down the road.
