This will be the second to last time I give away the free info. JK the Striper club is here to educate anyone who ask.
So newbie, you tried just a few time and it didn't work out. It took me a year of trying every weekend and I only got 2 fish. Then I found this site and that lead me to the NSC.
You can read all the post from years past and see it changes alot. But on this stays constant KISS.
Keep it simple and fish a lot or stay on the forums and read the post.
Simple.......use lighter line 10 pound or less.
Cut the heads and tails off and use as chum.
Get a chunk of bait about a 3rd of the anchovy or sardine.
Place on a lightly weighted line and a #2 hook. 1/8 ounce jig heads work well also.
Cast out in an area that you think is deep, like a place where you can't see the bottom. As the baited line sinks the stripers will find the bait, the light weight line and small presentation will fall slowly. Weight for the bait to fall, after 5 mins cast again.
Don't forget to chum, cut up small pieces of bait and cans of corn. One bag of cut anchovies is not a lot try two bags to start. This should attract stripers in the area in less than an hour (if they are hungry and nearby)
Last thing for now, get some spray attractant, BANG or salty shad from Bass Pro. The cut bait will lose its scent in about 15 minutes. Spray and re-bait often.
