Had a girlfriend going there years ago so I setup a tent at Spring Valley reservoir east of Moscow when I went for a visit. Caught my first bluegill, a 16" trout, and then an 18" trout that dwarfed the first one. Had a really good time.
More recently we went up and stayed with my cousin who lives there and fished it again. Still a nice little lake. He didn't know of anything else really close to fish, but he has gone a few other places further north that someone may be able to comment on.
You could always fish the Salmon and Clearwater on your way, or if you go through Montana and come down the Lewis and Clark scenic byway it runs along the river and I've stopped there and hopped the guard rail to fish some.
