hashbaz,
Like most places, Porcupine has good days and bad days, good years and bad years. But I would think it is always worth a try. I haven't lived in Logan for a long time but I caught plenty of fish from Porcupine, although not in the winter. It does have Kokanee and some BIG browns and decent cutts. A fish finder would be a big help to locate fish. Personally I think Porcupine is under-rated and therefore not fished by too many people. But that's okay too. Help prevent the crowds.
Try standard trout ice sfishing techniques. I'll bet you catch some. The time I did try to fish it through the ice I was a real novice at ice fishing. And I had no fish finder and no auger either. You don't bother to move around much to find fish when you have to chop a hole in 10+ inches of ice with a hatchet. So I don't count that trip against the lake. I know that people catch fish through the ice at Porcupine so I'm sure you will too.
