Is porcupine a popular place for ice fishing?
#9
I went there twice last year through the ice. The first time we caught nothing for about three hours and then got into the kokanees at about 10 feet under the ice in 50 feet of water. Two of us both limited and released fish. Followed up a couple of weeks later (after Doug Miller did his thing). This time we drilled over 30 holes and spent most of the day with the fish finder trying to find the kokanees again. Only located them once at 75 feet in 90 feet of water. We missed numerous bites over a 5 to 10 minute period because the monofilament line had too much stretch for a hook set. That was it, we ended the day skunked. I haven't been back since.
