One of the good fisherman at the motel hole used to really bark at the kevlar and it was nice to throw it back at him as he was using the thread last couple years. With the 30 plus pounders at Lake Creek 15 years ago had to go with the tuff line braid as it is impossible to thumb mono on big fish. Remember a friend who was spooled three casts in a row with 40lb
mono. Could not put enough tape on the thumb. Don't like using the 300 series reels which weigh twice as much either. I have caught thousands of steelhead and still prefer the small mono to the kevlar except with the bobbers.
