I have fished with the Huntsmans since I was big enough to handle steelhead which is is going on 25 years now. You won't find a more salt of the earth bunch of men anywhere, and I know none more knowledgeable on how to find and catch big fish (I have other friends equally savvy but not superior). In all those years, I've never known this Huntsman you are referring to to use a goite or snowflake reel. Nor have I known him to frequent the hole you mentioned. I believe you have him mixed up with someone else.
Also, I would agree the Huntsman brothers' father was one of the most incredible guys I've ever known, as well as is Wade. But Wade's brothers are also, including the one you addressed here. Five years ago I was in an accident and broke my neck and have had to use a wheelchair since. Since then Darren and his brothers have helped my dad and my brothers get me down to the river and fish many times and on different holes. This includes sacrificing valuable first fishing light time and lugging my butt down the bank-several hundred yards on one hole, taking time to help me get off snags, tie up, stay warm on steelhead trips, and land fish. Nicer guys you will not find on the rivers of Idaho than Darren and his brothers.
