I know a lot of folks use those big heavy Off Shore brand of side planners but I use the smaller Church brand of side planners and all bites, no matter how small the fish, are easy to detect, plus the Church brand makes loosing a side planner almost impossible unless you line breaks because they only have one clip, the other one is a pin. They also make the bigger sized planner board but I like the smaller ones. Here is a link to the size I use, awesome planner board. They cost less, they work better and you don't have that heavy board to deal with, whats not to like.
