Haha...I have a giant reel that was my big ticket prize for winning last years contest! I am going to need to mount it to a giant pole and try my best to catch a giant catfish so needless to say I'll probably catch little ones now that I'm equipped for the bigguns[]
I think it's going to be a fun contest this year with a better showing from the south, but we're still gonna tune 'em![]
About high-tide I chimed in...
It's a bite-and-run reel too. Had to get myself one also, cuz I'm like that.
I can share info with any (northerners) who'd like to know more. Beats Pat's rubber band pop-n-dropper with the flip of a lever. Just gotta spool it up with a load of flexi 6lb mono, and we'll be in business (cough cough).
I don't think we northerners need worry about the almighty Tubeduede-ster joining. The ol' man's more likely to be smoking cats that catching toads! bwahaha. (but we welcome your skilz, and assure a void of backstabbing. Maybe a few pokes and prods...)
I was aiming for April 1st, maybe dragging out through Oct. But now we've got a push for +1month on both ends? Input welcome. Used to prefer not to overlap the other contests, but since we've got others handling those, I'll keep my cat-focus. Last year even we had kitty sighting reports in March, so . . . let the games begin?
Skunked has asked to increase the team total count to 10 fish. Don't see a problem with that, we can have more 30+ northern beasts tallied up. Np.
Maybe a good landing net should be offered as a prize. Leave the little trout net home. I am hopeful we can solicit more stores to offer prizes. I've been a bit lax on that effort in the past, and welcome any others to ask around.

Now's a good time to offer your input if you see room for change, or have ideas on how we can improve the rules, scoring, contest experience. I think adding box-fishing to the carp challenge was good. I know BLK's gang had some fun with that. Still a bit surprised we didn't see much for 30+ carp. I know I've caught some. Still looking forward to catching one on a fly.
Looking forward to fishing with and against you all. Been great fun, great personal rewards over the years, and I thank you ALL for making it such a fun, positive contest experience. It would be great to arrange more gatherings - a fish-fry, or floatilla. It's nice to put faces to the usernames.
Sharpen those hooks, retie them knots, the best is yet to come. (I'll bet catfish would LOVE cisco... [] )
Hey Mikey- I'm a sucker for sucker. Count me in. The "spawn spot" I found a few years ago was a different ball-game with higher runoff last year.
Let me know when - I've be glad to come up and join you for a 'collection'.
Checked one of my carp minnow spots last weekend, and it's not quite there yet.
