WD-40????
#41
By definition it is bait if it is being used as a chemical attractant to catch fish. DWR person was correct, not a dimwit. Wouldn't advise using it on the Green.

I do agree it was odd/dumb the one CO didn't know about perch in DC.

Hh
I understand the regs. What I said was, " if he/she thinks WD-40 is bait, then he/she is a dimwit."

What part of that do you disagree with?
I do concider it bait, just like garlic juice, smelly jelly, vanilla, anise oil.

And I don't use bait. I wasn't judging you and I am sure you could teach me something. It was just a joke at the worm, corn and WD40. Throwing out the kitchen sink[Wink]

No where on a nightcrawler does it say it's bait . No where on a marshmellow does it say fish bait , but it catches fish . You don't have to resort to name calling just because you disagree.

I say, you go up to the middle Provo in front of a conservation officer and you spray your lure or fly. You are ADDING SCENT, not lubricating your hook. But, what do I know, I am. Dimwit.
When people say bait, it also means scent and taste.
I say, you go up to the middle Provo in front of a conservation officer and you spray your lure or fly.
[#800000]Just because a CO writes a citation based on his interpretation of what the deffinition of bait is, doesn't mean it will hold up in court. I learned that from a Utah DWR officer about 30 years ago. The court judge will decide whether or not an actual violation of the law has actually taken place; not the CO. And I'm still waiting for a documented study that scientifically proves that any substance used in WD-40 is in fact a fish attractant/stimulant. You know, something that the state can use that would stand up in court to prove you were in violation of the law as written.[/#800000]

Again....a flavoring. With those tha swear it makes a difference, this might not be that hard to prove as you think. If I stood at the middle Provo and sprayed some purfume on my fly, i am pretty sure I am adding scent, flavor... Not legal.
Nice debate Bob. By menot trying it pretty sure I won't see that Judge, but if one has that kind of time and money, might be worth trying.[Smile]

Does every product you buy list every use for it . No where on a bag of miniture marshmallows does it list the chemicals that will attract fish , but they do . Nobody wants to address that both 2 and 4 stroke motors put more pollutants in any body of water than a little wd could . I looked at all of the scents and bottled flavored marshmallows I own , and I own a lot . Garlic, anise , shrimp, every one says not for human consumption . None of them list the ingredients . If they're not good for humans , are they contaminating our lakes ?

Look up bait in the dictionary . " A lure or attractant . Normally put on a hook or trap . " it's bait .

I've always been tempted to try the ANUS scent I hear about from time to time.

- So, unzip first, THEN pee on fly. Got it. Maybe if I tie one on first, the second step might flow easier even.

Keep it chill folks. Have your debate, have your disagreements, but don't make it personal. Right BOB! (oh, wait..., oops)

And anyone who thinks a CO has full and correct knowledge of the appropriate laws may have their headlights a little dim too. THEY don't have to be right, because they already are. It's the Judge who will determine the correctness or lack thereof in enforcing a regulation.

And remember - better to bow down and walk away, then meet the /tazer/ ! (air quotes)

Well, we KNOW it ain't fish out, and being a petroleum product, it ain't "natural" either, makes it artificial.

Even plastics can have scent, as I've learned (impreggers they be). They don't label them which do and them which don't, but certainly the gulp-alives leave no debate.
