finally have my decision on a fishfinder for my boat. A fellow co-worker gave me a lowrance elite 7x finder that he had taken off of his boat. Couldn't beat the price. Just ordered a transducer and a power cord for it. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for all of the advice.

I have the same unit on my ThunderJet. Bought it at a Cabela's Bargain Cave in Texas for under $500. The previous owner had mounted the transducer on top of the mounting bracket (pointing up) and brought it back to them. Been working great ever since I installed it with the transducer pointing down. ?
