Three weeks, three reservoirs, fishing primarily for Smallmouth. Early AM launch as the bite really slows when the sun gets high.

Echo - Tons (ok, ounces) of bass, but all dinks. Only one over 10".  Trout were easy after the SMB slowed. Just drag cranks on the thermocline, about 40' down (clip weights).  No walleye.

Rockport - Again, lots of dink bass and perch. But we caught several around 14".  Kept 3 for dinner.  Cloudy, so the morning bite lasted longer.   They were full of crawdads. There were some guys filleting, by their count, 125 little perch at the cleaning station. Looked like a helluva lot of work for those silver dollar sized fillets.

This last Thursday we hit East Canyon. Not as many dinks, but a lot of healthy 10 inchers.  Kept three 14" inchers.  Again, full of crawdads. Lake was literally deserted until about 9am, maybe 3 boats total.

These crawdad-fed fish are extremely tasty, even better than the WB walleye.

Thanks for the reports, we sure don't get many bass fishing reports, glad you got out and had some good success, even if a lot of them were smaller, tugs are tugs. Did you try for any trout or kokers at EC? I'm just wondering if anyone has been catching and kokes there this year.

Nope, didn't go deep for trout, but when moving around we were steadily graphing open-water fish at 35-40 feet.

Every decent fish we caught was within 10' of shore. The SMB were really shallow, and really early.  We're cautious of chasing the evening bite right now with the monsoon storms...

I didn't think so but I had to ask, maybe someone else will see this and have an answer about the kokes. Don't blame you on not trying to get out for the evening bite, that storm that came through a few hours ago was a bad one, especially if you were on the water. Did you happen to notice the water temps while you were at EC?

My nephew fished EC two weeks ago and never started fishing until 11AM. He and his son did pretty well for bass. I'm heading up there in the morning but I'm watching the weather report closely especially the wind. I haven't fished it in years and looking forward to going.

As said on another post fished a tournament at echo last weekend and could only manage 2 keepers it was tough day for everyone it seemed. I fished East Canyon today water temp was 67 at the ramp fishing was good until about 9 then it just went dead. All the ten inchers I could catch with 3 keepers mixed in.

No only fished for bass I saw two boats trolling that was it not veryany shore anglers either I was off the water by 11:30
