Yesterday, Shawn and I made our annual fishing trip to Strawberry, and it didn't disappoint. We caught right around 200 [four rainbows included and two (caught by Shawn) over the slot]. We spot-locked up, in 24' of water, and never moved. Salted 2021 Lost Creek chubs cut bait was the ticket. Many times, we had other fish following when we reeled in a fish. Once, I reeled in a fish and had three other fish following. Weather was on the cool side, but with little wind, it was a gorgeous day. Another fun outing with Shawn.

As always it was great fishing with Kent. I’ll add a bit of detail, I fished with two rods, one with a slip bobber with a white with red flake Maniac Gitzilla and one with with just a 3/8oz. White tube jig fished on the bottom. The Gitzilla was about 4’ under the bobber I would cast it out put it in the rod holder and fish would attach the bobber. The tube jig I would drop straight down to the bottom and if I didn’t catch one on the drop I would reel it up a foot off the bottom and lay my rod down on the gunnel and pick it up when it got bit. If I missed the hook set and then didn’t get bit again immediately, I would reel in and the bait would be gone. It was tough keeping two rods in the water at once, several times I would be bringing in a fish on my bobber rod and when I got it next to the boat I would hold the rod in my left hand and pick up my other rod in my right and pitch that tube in front of the followers then have a fish on in both hands. I’m hoping for good weather next Saturday when I return with several kids and there dads. One of the rainbows Kent caught was a dandy probably 3.5-4 lbs.

Really tough and disappointing we almost caught one we lost it at the back of the boat on the last evening. I ovetneard guys taking in another boat and it was one of those you should have been here last week and it will definitely turn on again in the next days and weeks, the fish just where not cooperating while we where there. On the plus side I got to spend a lot of time with some great guys in the truck and boat in beautiful country.
