Got to the port at 9:00 am and had my limit of perch and 1 very nice 17" rainbow (that had broken off another angler) by 10:30. I will post pictures later, I left my camera at the mother-in-laws last night.
I have to admit that I was skeptical of how the perch fishing would be this year with all the "die off/kill off" chatter that has been buzzing around the board.
My 2 cents is, that if there was a die off this spring it didn't hurt the quality because the majority of the perch I caught were in the 9" to 10" class . However I did notice that I didn't catch as many ( 1 total) of the little 4" dinks as I had the past couple of years.
So, if there was a die off it may not be apparent this year but could definitely be a reality the next.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like this year may be an excellent year for perch at Rockport. If I’m unable to launch my boat at the Bear this week maybe I’ll make a trip up there.

Thanks for the report. How was the ice? I'm hoping to take my kids up there later in the week.

Wow! Thats great! I'm glad that you caught perch, and nice ones too. I was up there on Thursday fishing by the dam in about 40 feet. I caught two 2-pound rainbows and lost another 3 but saw no perch on the finder. Where were you fishing and how deep were the perch?

Took me a little bit of time to find perch today but when I did it was nonstop . Bows are sure looking nice out of there . They been pigging out and no scars . I hooked one bow on my ultra-lite perch rod . Thought I would never get it to the hole . Tried to use my camera on that bow but it was too cold to work . Lots of 10" pigs perch . Fished 12' to 54' of water today .
